Visual Inspiration

One of the conceptual aspects of my work I connected to this exhibition was to do with the past. Vicarious Nostalgia is when people are nostalgic about a time they never experienced. An example of this is someone born in 2000 saying "everything was better in the 70s" or "I wish I grew up in the 70s". In a similar sense I saw myself looking at this exhibition with a slight vicarious nostalgia to do with people of the time and their connection to spirituality and nature.

The image to the right is a headdress made from the skull of a dear that used to be worn by hunters so they could commune with animals that they use for food and materials. This image struck me and I thought to use it in my art as a symbol for vicarious nostalgia.
